While most of us are still attempting to shovel out from Winter Storm Jonas, the Mid-Atlantic coastline is recovering from the damaging winds and significant storm surge that came with the blizzard. "Snowzilla" as it has been termed brought high winds and a hurricane-like storm surge to coastal towns including Atlantic City, NJ; Cape May, NJ; Ocean City, MD; Bethany Beach, DE; and Rehoboth Beach, DE, among others. Ocean City, MD, sustained significant flood damage in the wake of Winter Storm Jonas. Some of the pilings were ripped apart and washed up in the inlet parking lot. The mayor of Ocean City has confirmed that the structure's easternmost section which formed a 'T' at the end of the pier has been destroyed. In the last five years, that section of the pier has been repeatedly damaged and then rebuilt each time. Photo courtesy of the Town of Ocean City For updates, click to oceancitymd.gov/oc.
