Want to do something special for mom this mother’s day? Well we’ve got you covered. Rather than go for the usual flowers or jewelry, why not treat your mother to a unique Chesapeake experience. We’ve rounded up some awesome events on and around the Bay.

On the Water:

  • The Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, MD is offering a Mother’s Day Brunch Cruise (May 10) aboard the William B. Tennison, a nine log sailing bugeye that was converted into a powered buyboat in 1909. The Tennison will depart from the museum at 11:30 a.m. and return by 1 p.m. Adults are $25 and children 12 and under are $15.   • The Schooner Woodwind will also host a brunch cruise on May 10. The three hour cruise will depart from The Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel at 10 a.m. and return by 1 p.m. One Bloody Mary or Mimosa and delicious food are included. Guests can expect homemade scones, baked citrus salmon, hearty bread, grilled steak, fresh fruit salad, and more. Tickets are $88 for adults and $48 for children, but only a maximum of 35 guests can go out so make sure to book your spots now!   • Mother’s and grandmother’s ride for free at Pirate Adventures of the Chesapeake in Annapolis! For those with younger children, this will surely be a day to remember. Moms can enjoy a free day on the water while kids can experience a full pirate adventure, complete with face painting, a water cannon battle, and even sunken treasure. Afterwards you can take advantage of mother’s day brunch specials in many of the Annapolis area restaurants. Tickets are $20 per person and $12 for children under age three.   • The Sultana Education Foundation hosts public paddles throughout the year and there are four trips in the month of May to try and get mom out on the water. Join the Sultana naturalists for a unique kayak experience on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Tickets are $30 unless specified otherwise.     • Saturday, May 2: Blue Heron Paddle. Venture to the headwaters of the Sassafras River and some of the best Blue Heron habitat on the Bay.
    • Thursday, May 14: Mount Harmon and Blue Heron Tour. After paddling the Sassafras guests will get to tour the restored 18th century manor house.
    • Saturday, May 16: Farm and Wine Paddle. After paddling through the secluded Turner’s Creek off the Sassafras, guests will follow Sultana’s instructors to Crow Farm for a winery tour in the afternoon. Tickets are $40 and include a wine tasting.
    • Saturday, May 30: Saltmarsh Paddle. Guests will explore the pristine salt marshes and tidal creeks of the Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge. 

Resorts:

  • The Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa will be running a Mother’s Day special between now and May 10. Starting at $309, the special includes overnight accommodations, a $100 salon and spa voucher, a $25 resort voucher for their restaurants, and a CBRS signature bath robe.   • The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina will also host a mother’s day brunch at their Waters Edge Grill on May 10.
