Don't forget! THIS WEEKEND! Spots are still open!
The Coastal Conservation Association of Maryland (CCAMD) is gearing up for the Mid Atlantic Fisheries Symposium December 5 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. The one-day event will bring together top scientists on the Chesapeake Bay along with representatives of stakeholder groups and recreational anglers to discuss the current state of marine resources in the Bay, and what the future holds. Dr. Elizabeth North, assistant professor at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) will open the symposium with “A Tale of Two Shellfisheries: Oysters, scallops, and a path toward a brighter future.” The second session will feature Dr. Edward Houde, vice president for education and professor at UMCES, taking on “Little Fish, Big Impact: Forage fish, menhaden, and ecosystem-based fisheries management.” During the afternoon session, Michael Luisi, assistant director of the Estuarine and Marine Fisheries Division of the Maryland DNR, will give us a “Striped Bass Management Update and Discussion of the Regulations for Maryland’s Fishermen.” This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
