You may have noticed some beautiful wooden rowing boats at the 2015 Bay Bridge Boat Show last weekend. The company, Adirondack Guideboat, is stationed in Vermont and currently owned by brothers Justin and Ian Martin.
The company was launched in 1979 but really began to take off in 1996. Currently they build about 200 boats a year, either cedar-hulled or a kevlar/fiberglass composite, in several varieties. Each boat is designed, adapted, and created by Steve Kaulback, the AGB founder. And despite being based in Vermont, the owners attest that some of their most successful boat shows are in Maryland!
