Solomons Island Model Boat Club is dedicated to preserving the maritime heritage of the Chesapeake Bay by building and operating radio controlled model boats. They have a variety of model boats based off of historically significant boats, including their skipjack, originally a boat on the Bay as an oyster “drudger”, commonly used in Maryland to dredge for oysters since the late nineteenth century. They utilize the Calvert Marine Museums woodworking shop and facilities.
