The Wharf is a mixed-use waterfront neighborhood rapidly taking shape in Washington, DC. This revitalization of the Southwest waterfront stretches across 24 acres of land and more than 50 acres of water from the Municipal Fish Market to Fort McNair. The Wharf is set to open October 2017, along with a new daily water taxi. Courtesy Wharf DC Earlier this year, Entertainment Cruises acquired Potomac Riverboat Company which already runs regular water taxis between Old Town Alexandria and National Harbor. They also run seasonal boats to the National Mall and Nationals Park. But the new partnership between The Wharf and Entertainment Cruises will introduce daily, regularly scheduled water taxis routes with stops in Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria, and National Harbor, with the possibility of a larger network in the future. Peak season is Memorial Day to Labor Day, with three routes that pick up 10 times per day at The Wharf. Off-peak seasons are March to May and September to December, with a minimum of four trips per day. Courtesy Wharf DC Four new specialty vessels that can hold up to 100 people will be added to the fleet. The boats can also hold luggage and bikes and are outfitted with WIFI and outlets. Low-wake designs create less disturbance in the water and along the shorelines, allowing for more efficient service.
