UPDATE Oct. 14: The tides have receded! No flooding in Annapolis last night and the U.S Powerboat Show is open for business for a gorgeous weekend. Despite yesterday's rain, it was a great opening day for the United States Powerboat Show in Annapolis. Team PropTalk/FishTalk was out in force and we're out again today, rain boots and all. With the wet weather and today's tides, be advised that certain entrances to the show will be less wet than others. The Annapolis Boat Shows advise attendees to enter by the Yacht Basin and the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. It is also advised to park your car at the Naval-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (for $10) and take the free shuttle bus to the show. Another option is to park in Eastport and walk across the Spa Creek Bridge. The water taxis will also be running from 8 a.m. to midnight with rates at $3-$8 per person. Water taxi rides from the main show docks to Brokerage Cove and back are free! We are currently at low tide, with high tide at 12:30 p.m. The main show gate might be hard to navigate at that point, due to the tide, so make your way around the show to the Yacht Basin entrance. You'll be closer to Pusser's at that point so you might as well pick up a Painkiller on your way in. Once in the show, you have the perfect excuse to splurge on those rain boots and foul weather gear you've been eyeing. There are great boat show specials to be had, on gear and on boats, so don't let a little rain and high tides scare you away. We'll still be there! And we'll be popping popcorn at our booth at 5 p.m. so stop by and see us. And if you arrive right around the high tide mark (12:30 p.m.), you can take a long lunch at one of the great restaurants in downtown, and then head back into the show after. If you need a recommendation on where to eat, check out our Local's Guide to Annapolis. The U.S. Powerboat Show is like Christmas in October, and like Christmas, it only comes once a year. So please don't let the weather deter you. And the good news is, this weekend's weather looks great.
