This novel is about the critical role of Liberty Ships during the darkest days of World War II. These merchant marine ships carried ammunition, aircraft, tanks, food supplies and anything an army might need. They crossed the hazardous North Atlantic to deliver supplies to England and Russia. and besides violent weather, the Germans made extreme efforts to sink the ships with U-Boats and the Luftwaffe. The novel is based on a diary kept by one of the deck cadets who happened to be my uncle, Jack Dodd.
