Camping, Tyler Rong, 3rd grade, Potomac, MD Calling all young poets, photographers, artists and producers! Any students in grades kindergarten through 12 still have time to submit their works of art for the chance to win great prizes! The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has extended its 2013 Color Maryland Green contest through March 1. The annual Color Maryland Green contest is designed to encourage children to take advantage of the abundant recreational opportunities and natural resources that Maryland has to offer. The artwork must be original and should showcase the beauty and wonder of the State’s outdoors. Entries can be any work of art or film ─ such as photographs, oil paintings, pencil and charcoal sketches, computer design, crayon and marker drawings, poetry and video. DNR will choose one champion from each age group in the Poetry, Art, Photography categories, and one overall Video. For more information and to enter, visit dnr.state.md.us/education/cmg_about.asp. Color Maryland Green has once again teamed up with the international River of Words contest, so all Maryland entries in the international contest will also be automatically entered in the State contest. Winners will be honored at the River of Words national awards ceremony on May 7 at the Library of Congress Pickford Theater in D.C.
