On October 26, 2016, the Bureau of Land Managament-Alaska posted a video to their Facebook page that has now been viewed more than 890,000 times. An employee was scoping out ice on the Chena River in Fairbanks, Alaska, when he noticed something odd moving up the river. The 'thing' looked like ice chunks but moved together in a side-to-side motion and he noticed a shadow under the icy surface of the water. And luckily it was all captured on video. So see for yourself... could it be an Alaskan Loch Ness Monster??

On the group's Facebook page, they explain that “Our employees did not investigate. It’s kind of far out in the middle of the river. Video was taken right by our BLM Fairbanks District Office facing downstream. We’re not sure what it is. We’re letting you all be the judge.” An update posted on October 31 states: "So far the most compelling explanation, one shared by experts at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game - Official and others, is that the video shows 'frazil ice stuck to a rope that is probably caught on a bridge pier.' Thanks for your theories, and Happy Halloween!"
