Hello, CCWBRA go-fasters: Due to a disappointingly flaccid registration, the Skuas on the Lehigh races scheduled for June 11th in Allentown have been postponed until another year. Sad for certain, but the Lehigh Valley fleet is proposing an alternative for anyone that wishes to come: a motor-testing picnic at Nockamixon State Park in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, June 12th starting at 1:00 p.m. This is a bring-your-own-picnic kind of event and open to all comers. Nocky is a five-mile-long, 1,450-acre lake, and boats are limited to 20 h.p., so there’s no big-boat chop to contend with. There’s also a nice area for kayak/canoe paddling. (Fred paddles a lot with his canoe and with his racers.) We will meet at the Haycock Landing, which is just west of Route #412 on Route #563. Here’s a link to a map of the park: The often-present po-po might discourage us from actually racing a set course, but we could fly under their radar with some relay races.  In any case, come on out!  Fred, Steve, and Tom go there often and will be there on Sunday with spouses and picnics in tow.  If you come you’ll get a free 2016 Skuas on the Lehigh sticker, and no boat inspection is necessary.  You’ll also get a large scrap of carpeting to take home, since we won’t need it to protect our boats from bulkhead damage at Adams Island.
